Suspicious timing of delay [editor's title] We know the local election campaign has started in earnest when Brent Council and its favoured developer, Genesis Housing Group, stall their ill-conceived plans for the skyline in Kilburn and Queen's Park (Skyscraper is scraped, October 20). I would like to draw residents' attention to the words of Brent's own planning brief of 2003. Regarding "scale and massing": "Any such development, will need to address the domestic scale of buildings . . and be sensitive to the general context, including those buildings to the north of the railway lines." How could a proposal that would have a 26-storey monolith cast its shadow across the housing north of the railway lines get this far? Will we have to wait till after the local elections to find out? Only the Green Party puts the needs and interests of residents before those of big business. Shahrar Ali |
