Penpushers will fight pension cuts This has got nothing to do with the pensions crisis. Having announced tens of thousands of civil service job cuts, the chancellor's real agenda is to save an estimated 2% from the public-sector pay bill. We believe the government has got its figures seriously wrong: the proposals will mean a cut in remuneration of at least double the government's estimate. The Green party supports the public sector unions' campaign against these cuts. We need to stand up to this government on public-sector pensions cuts before our state and company pensions follow suit. Peter
